Note: Never apply lubricants of any kind onto the digit bearings.

Possible Solutions:

a. Check that the data connector on the individual digit is plugged in cor-

rectly to the digit enable cable.

b. Check that the digit enable cable is plugged in all the way on the control

board and that it is clean.

c. Manually move the individual segments back and forth several times to

confirm that no foreign matter is “jammed” into the digit bearings. Wipe

the digit bearing and magnet spotless using a clean, dry cloth, see Fig. 40

below.

d. Interchange a known operating digit for the malfunctioning one. If the

interchanged digit operates properly in this position, the suspected digit is

bad and should be returned for service.

e. Check the control board, see page 5-1, Step 2.

Possible Solutions:

a. Follow the suggestions in “All segments in one digit are inoperative”

above.

b. If your scoreboard operates on a battery, the battery may be low, see

page 7-13.

Possible Solutions:

a. Inspect the digit enable cable connector on the control board. Confirm

that all pins are clean and that there are not any bent or broken pins.

b. Check the control board, see page 5-1, Step 2.
