An acceptable substitute ground rod can be a metallic water pipe as long

as it extends at least 10 feet below grade.

The lightning protection grounding system should be connected to the

building system ground if the scoreboard is mounted to a building struc-

ture or to the power system ground if the scoreboard is located in a remote

area. This requirement is necessary for common ground potentials and for

meeting appropriate applicable electrical codes. Check your local codes.
