2. Composition shall be copper clad steel, solid copper or stainless steel.

3. Ground plates and other rod configurations can be used in rocky or

sandy conditions.

4. Underground metallic piping could be used as a substitute ground.

1. Conductors can be in the form of stranded cables, single wires/rods or

flat strips.

! Stranded Cables - 17 AWG per strand, 187 lbs./1000 ft.

! Single Wire/Rods - 3 or 4 AWG, 41,000-57,000 CM (circular mils)

! Flat Strips - Thickness of 16 AWG, width 1 inch

2. Bends should not be less than 90 degrees and should not have less than

an eight-inch radius, see Fig. 23 below.

3. A corrosion preventative should be applied 3 feet above ground and

extended to the bonding with the ground rod. The form can be a plastic

coat, conduit, rubber hose or electrician’s tar type seal and wrap.
