Post-Run Procedures
98
Part # 15035786 Rev. D
Introduction
Post-run procedures include the removal and weighing of reagents, and an instrument
wash. A water wash is required after each run, with the option after a high output run to
perform a maintenance wash instead. Illumina recommends a maintenance wash.
Regular instrument washes ensure continued performance in the following ways:
} Flush any remaining reagents and sample from the fluidics tubing and sippers.
} Prevent salt accumulation and crystallization in the fluidics tubing and sippers.
} Prevent cross-contamination from the previous run, including cross-contamination
after switching modes.
NOTE
A water wash performed at the end of a run washes the system and checks fluidics. When
setting up a run, the software confirms that a water wash or maintenance wash has been
performed within the last 24 hours. A maintenance wash is required every 10 days. When 10
days elapse after the last maintenance wash, the software prompts you to perform a
maintenance wash.
